In a statement issued on Wednesday, June 29, the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia said that “the observation of the new lunar crescent of the Hegira calendar confirms that the first day of the month of Dhu el-hijja 1443, is set for Thursday, June 30, 2022. Therefore, “the day of Arafat is scheduled for Friday, July 8 and the first day of Eid al-Adha 2022 is set for Saturday, July 9, 2022,” said the statement.

Thus, the feast of Eid al-Adha 2022 will be officially celebrated on Saturday, July 9 by the Muslim community around the world, like Canada. This date has already been, it should be recalled, announced a few days ago taking into account scientific calculations. This is the case, for example, of the Theological Council of Muslims of France (CTMF) which announced on June 25 that Eid al-Adha 2022 will be celebrated on July 9.

Based on scientific data, the International Center for Astronomy, based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, has also indicated that the celebration of Eid al-Adha will take place on Saturday, July 9, 2022. A date that has just officialized, this Wednesday, June 29, the Supreme Court of the Saudi kingdom whose announcements are heard in all Muslim countries.
